PDFImage Quality Presentation with Notes from Dr. Thibos (1).pdf

The OSA Optical Metrology Technical Group is pleased to present this webinar featuring two presentations from Dr. Larry Thibos and Dr. Curtis Menyuk.

In the first part of this webinar, Dr. Larry Thibos will present an introduction to image quality metrics. In many branches of optical science and engineering there is a need to quantify the quality of an image by a single number.  Although numerous metrics of image quality are available for this task, careful selection of an appropriate metric for a given application depends on many factors that will be reviewed and explained in this brief introduction.

What You Will Learn:

  • How image quality is defined and measured
  • Factors that should be considered when selecting a metric of choice
  • Broad categories of metrics with examples
  • Limitations of scalar metrics

In the second half of this webinar, Dr. Curtis Menyuk will offer a presentation on quantitative modeling of comb sources.  In this presentation, Dr. Menyuk will discuss the progress in comb sources, current modeling approaches and what is lacking as well as why quantitative modeling is important.

What You Will Learn:

  • When and why quantitative modeling is important
  • What is the current state of the art and what can be done to improve it

Who Should Attend:

  • Graduate Students
  • Undergraduate Students
  • Optics & Photonics Industry
  • Educators

Level:

This webinar is targeted to both beginner and intermediate levels.
